Press Release: Henrike Hahn MEP (The Greens/ EFA): European Parliament adopts EU budget for 2023

The Members of the European Parliament voted on the EU budget for 2023 in Strasbourg today.

Henrike Hahn, MEP (The Greens/EFA), industrial policy spokeswoman and shadow rapporteur of the Greens/EFA group for the EU budget 2022, comments on the result of the vote (492 votes in favour, 66 against and 46 abstentions):

“With the help of the Greens/EFA group, the EU budget 2023 contains the means needed to advance the decarbonisation of the European economy, tackle climate change and the biodiversity crisis, while ensuring a just transition for all. We were able to raise more money for Horizon (totalling 80 million EUR), the Connecting Europe Facility (103.5 million EUR) and the LIFE program (30 million EUR).

That's how we made this budget more future-oriented.

Because of the war in Ukraine and the global food crisis, it is very important that we were able to raise additional funds for humanitarian aid and for our Eastern and Southern partner countries. This was a clear priority for the Greens/EFA group for the 2023 EU budget."

I would be happy to answer any further questions.
